Our Team
The Poseidon Lifesaving Club ‘Team’ is made up of a wonderful group of trained Professionals, Parent Volunteers and Junior Volunteers from the Survive & Save Programme.
Child Safeguarding is at the core of all our activities. All team members are Garda vetted for each specific role and has completed Sports Ireland Safeguarding 1. All Committee Members, Club Members and Parent Volunteers are also members of the RLSS UK.
John Doyle - Head Coach
John has over twenty years’ experience teaching water safety and swimming to adults and children. John is the head coach with Wicklow Triathlon Club and Bray Lakers and is a lead trainer with the LTA as well as a member of the Greystones Coast Guard Unit.
John’s Water Qualifications
- RLSS/RNLI Beach Lifeguard Trainer
- RLSS Pool Lifeguard Trainer
- Level 2 Swimming Teacher

- PHECC First Aid Responder Trainer
- PHECC Community First Responder Trainer
- Irish Heart Foundation CPR/AED Trainer Emergency Medical Technician (EMT)
- Irish Coast Guard Climbing Equipment Inspector
Open Water Safety Tips
Our Certifications
All Swimming Instructors and Swim Coaches who train both Rookie and Survive & Save Beach are required to have the following Lifesaving qualifications:
- Bronze medallion survive and save
- Survive and save instructor qualification
- Open water endorsement
All Swimming Instructors and Swim Coaches who train Survive & Save Pool are required to have the following Lifesaving qualifications
- Survive and save instructor qualification
- Bronze medallion survive and save
All Swimming Instructors and Swim Coaches who train Rookie Pool are required to have the following Lifesaving qualifications
- Survive and save instructor qualification
