About Poseidon Lifesaving Club

Established in 2010 by John Doyle, Poseidon Lifesaving Club has been teaching swimming and lifesaving skills to children from all over the Wicklow.

We are a competitive lifesaving club training swimmers from the age of eight and above with varying swimming abilities. The clubs swimmers have competed with great success at regional and national level.

Poseidon Lifesaving Club aims to provide an inclusive range of opportunities to increase participation in lifesaving and activities. We recognise the importance of equipping as many people as possible with valuable lifesaving skills to help save as many lives as possible and ultimately to help reduce the drowning toll in Ireland.

RLSS UK Affiliation

Poseidon Lifesaving Club is affiliated to the Royal Lifesaving Society UK. The RLSS is a charity who aims to provide communities throughout the UK and Ireland with the education and training to have fun safely around water.

In May of 2020 PLSC was awarded the ASPIRE CLUB certification from the RLSS UK. This is a fantastioc achievement and PLSC are the first club in Ireland to be awarded this honour.

The RLSS UK offer community-based drowning prevention strategies and lifesaving education programmes. The RLSS UK will also foster and facilitate exchanges of information sharing and gathering between RLSS members worldwide. By affiliating to RLSS UK our club is part of the lifesaving family, allowing access to a range of support, services and resources, and all courses provided by the club are recognised and accepted worldwide.

Poseidon Lifesaving Club requires all its members to have a valid RLSS membership ID in order to compete.

Safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility. It is everyone’s responsibility to be proactive in promoting good practice and creating a supportive environment. It is also everyone’s responsibility to pass on any concerns in relation to questionable conduct.

Poseidon Lifesaving Club operates under the requirements of the Ireland Children First Act 2015 and the guidance of the safeguarding policies of RLSS UK.
